In this short episode, I’m sharing one of the easiest ways I began supporting my body during recovery: soup! Hearty, nutritious, and so versatile, soup became my go-to meal. I’d throw carrots, ginger, sweet potato, and butternut squash into a pot, blend it all together, and voila—a simple, comforting dish that carried me through the toughest days.

The speaker suggests batch cooking soup on Sundays for a quick and convenient lunch option throughout the week. They also mention that soup can be enjoyed with bread or added to pasta for a unique twist. The speaker encourages listeners to experiment with different vegetables and flavors in their soups. Hello, welcome back. It's another one of those mini episodes. So this one is about soup. That's a surprise, isn't it? What? He's talking to us about soup? Why on earth is he talking to us about soup? At the start of my journey, one of the biggest problems that I had was my body was lacking nutrition. Because obviously the keto diet, you restrict and you don't eat. And there's a whole load of foods that you're not supposed to eat. So the body desperately needed. So something else that helped me on my healing journey was trying to find good, nutritious, hearty food that I wanted to eat. And I didn't. I was obviously still a little bit worried about weight gain and I didn't want to do that. And one of the things that has got to be the easiest thing to make in this busy life that we all have is soup. And I don't know why we're all so scared of soup. I have many, many recipe books, but I'm not going to give you a recipe as such because I don't really follow recipes. I'm very much a throw it all in the pan and see what happens kind of a girl. I am sure somewhere on my social media, there will be many pictures of various different soups that most all seem to be the same color. There is a reason for that. It's because all of my soups have carrots, carrots and ginger. They may have other additions like potato or sweet potato or butternut squash or peppers or tomatoes or whatever else I can find that's in the bottom of the fridge. But soup is a hearty, nutritious, delicious thing to have. And I think especially for busy style minders, you can just batch cook it on a Sunday and it's ready for the week. Nice, tasty, warm bread goes really well with soup. So again, one less thing to worry about because you've already sorted out your lunch for the rest of the week and you can do different things with it. You can still have a sandwich and a mug of soup or you could just have your bowl of soup with your tasty hot bread or you could decide to add the soup to pasta, which is a bit weird. But let me tell you, the children in my setting absolutely loved it when I added one of my concoctions to their pasta, they ate all of it. And you know that you've just given lots of lovely nutrition because ginger is really good for us, carrots are really good for us, sweet potato is really good for us. I'm not going to list all of the lovely vitamins, although I know at some point it's written down somewhere, probably on my Instagram about why I eat carrots, ginger and butternut squash. So there you go, this week's tip is to go and look and see what kind of vegetables you can put in yours. I literally mixed it all together in the blender, my children call it baby food. You don't have to do it like that, you can obviously add more liquid and chop the bits up smaller and do it like a proper soup. I quite like my baby food soup. So let me know how you get on and what flavours you choose. Catch you next time.
