Kate from Gould by Design shows how to make a unique diaper cake using items from the dollar store. She uses a planter as the base and adds cute decorations and flowers for a baby shower theme. She rolls blankets, onesies, and denim-looking diapers, securing them with rubber bands. She attaches lanterns to the cake using straws and blankets. Kate also rolls Huggie diapers tightly and secures them with rubber bands. She adds a bear, ribbon, and flowers for extra decoration. She suggests being creative and using whatever is available. Hi guys! I'm Kate and welcome to Gould by Design. Today I'm going to show you a neat spin on a diaper cake. It's all about the presentation. And the best part is I bought most of the items at the dollar store. Let's get started. I really love this DIY diaper cake because it's so much nicer than just handing them a bag of diapers. Once I found this planter at the dollar store that would fit all my registry items, I started there. It was perfect because it also looked like a basket for a hot air balloon. I really lucked out because it's close to Valentine's Day so dollar store had so much cute love and heart decorations and flowers so it was perfect for a baby shower. So I bought the filler there as well and I put that in the bottom and then I just started building from there. I rolled each of the blankets and the onesies as well. And then I had these really cute denim looking diapers from Huggies. Then I got out my rubber bands. Those are from the dollar store as well. And I used those to secure the straws onto the hot air balloon. So those are little lanterns you can get. Dollar store sometimes has them. These I had to get at party fair because I couldn't find them at dollar store. But I secured them and then I put it through the little metal hoop because I didn't want to use too much hot glue because then the person that I was giving it to, I figured they can use it however they want and reuse the lantern as well. So then I secured three different straws and then all you do is just stick them in the blankets like so and the blankets kind of secured the entire balloon for me because they were rolled so tight it was a good anchor for it. And there it is. And then next step, I took the Huggie diapers and I rolled each of them as tight as I could and then I secured it with the same rubber bands that I got from the dollar store. So I didn't have to use any hot glue so the diapers were all usable. I also had a little Lazy Susan that I had gotten. I think that was from Target dollar section a while ago. So I used that to kind of build up and hold the diapers while I worked. I also found that cute little bear and all the ribbon at dollar store as well. And the bear smells like chocolate so I thought that was a great little added. And then this for the ribbon, I forgot my clothespins so I had to just secure it with scissors for now until I went and grabbed my safety pins to secure the ribbon together. But I always keep gold safety pins so then it looks extra cute. And then I did another layer of ribbon that I found at the dollar store. So I had that thick, soft, white ribbon that I wrapped around and then just secured it, pulled it as tight as I could, and then I double secured it with the pink as well. And then I just tied it in the back and I stuck the bear in. I found these super cute pink flowers. They almost look real. They're so pretty. And then I found this little heart sack which my daughter wrote the name of the baby on one of her precious shells and then she was able to put that in there. But you can put whatever you want in the sack. I was going to use it in some different ways where I would have wrapped it around the ribbon on the top or the bottom but you could really do whatever, be creative. And that's it. That's all there is to it. It's really up to you how creative you want to be and what you have available. But have fun, be creative, and don't forget to like and subscribe. Thanks for watching guys. Put pictures of what you guys make in the comments. I'd love to see it.
