The Alberta government is providing $27.1 million in funding for two grants, the Indigenous Primary Health Care Innovation Fund and the Indigenous Patient Navigator Program. The goal is to improve access to primary care for Indigenous patients and address the barriers they face in receiving culturally appropriate healthcare. Alberta Health has created a new division focused on Indigenous health and is investing in initiatives to improve care and health outcomes for Indigenous communities. The Alberta government is investing $27.1 million towards two grants, the Indigenous Primary Health Care Innovation Fund and the Indigenous Patient Navigator Program to improve access to primary care for Indigenous patients. The funding aims to remove barriers faced by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people in accessing primary health care that aligns with their cultural needs. Alberta Health has established a new division dedicated to Indigenous health and are making investments to remove barriers faced by Indigenous peoples in accessing culturally safe primary care and building community-specific capacity to improve the circle of care and health outcomes.
