The Alberta government is investing $27.1 million in two grants to improve access to primary care for Indigenous patients. The funding will remove barriers and provide culturally appropriate healthcare for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people. Alberta Health has created a new division for Indigenous health and is working to improve healthcare outcomes and build community-specific capacity. The Alberta government is investing $27.1 million towards two grants, the Indigenous Primary Health Care Innovation Fund and the Indigenous Patient Navigator Program to improve access to primary care for Indigenous patients. The funding aims to remove barriers faced by First Nations, Métis and Inuit people in accessing primary health care that aligns with their cultural needs. Alberta Health has established a new division dedicated to Indigenous health and are making investments to remove barriers faced by Indigenous people in accessing culturally safe primary care and building community-specific capacity to improve the circle of care and health outcomes.
