The speaker believes it is important to advocate for cognitive and emotional liberty because governments and businesses are using technology to control our thoughts and feelings. This use and advancement of technology could be dangerous and threaten our privacy. The speaker argues that we need to fight for the right to keep our thoughts and emotions private, as they are a part of our individuality. If everyone knew how everyone else thought and felt, there would be no room for individual uniqueness. When regarding this certain topic, I feel as though it is important to advocate for cognitive and emotional liberty. The fact that governments and businesses have already started using these technologies to just move us further and further away to being able to possess the freedom of being able to think and feel on our own. The use and advancement of this technology could prove scary and questionable for the future. With some already incorporating it into everyday life, it is only a matter of time before every government and or business is using them. Soon no one's thoughts or emotions will remain safe. We as a society do not have as much privacy as we once did. It is important to hang on and fight for the right to have our own thoughts and emotions not displayed out on any platform to the public unless we fully allow them to be. Within our privacy, there is nothing stopping technology from gathering every last bit of information that we possess. It is also important to have our thoughts and emotions private because they are a form of our own individuality. If we all knew how everyone thought or felt, there would be no room for discovery of what makes people individually unique.
