A strange ant-like creature starts devouring other species and creating an army of Chimera Ants. Gon, Killua, and Kite investigate and encounter powerful ants. They go to a country called NGL and discover its anti-technology policy. The ants capture humans and gain power from Nen. Kite and the boys fight the ants, but Gon is knocked out. Kite loses an arm, and the boys meet Netero and his crew. They face challenges and Gon fights Knuckle. The Chimera Ant king is born and causes chaos. The extermination team plans to stop them, but the king and his guards have already left. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to one of the best story arcs in Hunter x Hunter. A strange ant-like creature comes up from the shores and begins to eat devouring to gain strength. We learn Kite has sent to do investigation and work on these species from the country Kakin, with friends of Kite helping investigate with Gon and Killua tagging along. The creatures this ant queen keeps consuming is building an army of replicants of what she eats, all to bear a strong king. It's called Photogenesis, and is used in this instance combining species to create things called Chimera Ants, to the point of extinction of others. In this small isolated village we see this happen with a young brother and sister duo, devoured gruesomely together by the queen, and her appetite grows further and further. It's more disturbing than anything, like we went from a video game to children getting murked. Togashi is a master of doing whatever he likes. The Chimera Ants now sentient, beginning to capture humans across the land, even becoming squads of talking walking Chimera Ants, even gaining names. A fire up soon to be called Royal Guards. Gon and Ko make it to a country called NGL to figure out why people are missing and where it's coming from. Turns out the country is completely anti-technology. Anything including silicon, metal, glass, and everything in between is unallowed. It is completely eco-friendly, as far as we see on the surface. The only useful ones to go is Gon, Killua, and Kite, while the Chimera Ants start to gain their territory. Learning how to use guns. As a previous examinee, Pako and Ponzu show up to see what is happening. Pako even is able to use Nen to create arrows, but he is unable to stop the Chimera Ants, causing him to be surprise attacked and knocked out. Ponzu used her bees to help, only for her to be taken out a bullet to the head from a sadistic Chimera Ant. Kite and the two boys receive the message heading off on horseback and come across a shrine of horses stuck to trees. Almost like a crucifixion of animals. Then a rabbit Chimera Ant named Rao Ramit seems to be able to take their attacks from Gon and Killua, even though they are experienced Nen users. Only Ponzu... Okay, so Ponzu was such a waste of a female character. Like, she literally should be used for the Chimera Ants team more effectively than just being murked off the screen right away. But, like, she does nothing. Like, I know we have some fodder, but Pako already was there. I didn't like him really compared to Ponzu. Ponzu had a very cool ability, controlled bees, and could have been good at infiltration at least for a little bit before she got gut. At least give her something to back up. Why I should care when she drops dead. This in turn gives the ants an advantage. Nen. The aura itself wakens from the damage done by Killua and Gon. As the ants start to awaken each other's aura nodes, while Kite and the boys find a run-down base with bodies everywhere, we get a creepy scene of the Chimera Ants keeping humans on chains like pets. Even just stomping on them, not even caring how much they're worth. I mean, I know people are into that, but you're not right if you're into this scene. All three hunters fight the ants as Killua is stabbed, only for him to turn the head of the Chimera Ant upside down. Gon slices his opponent down using his jajanken. Scissors. I want to talk about something that is well-known for the manga readers who read or are reading this part. Togashi redraws a lot. I mean, in fact, a lot of his first drafts are really bad for the chapters, and everyone knows this. Everyone. But this is due to his back pain that is so bad that he can barely sit normal now. It's only gotten worse with time. I want to make it clear that bad art is bad art for the Chimera Ant arc, but at least it's in a much better format now for the new volumes that have been released. I don't want to hear any comments about bad art because it's already been six decades ago. We learn the hierarchy of the ants as the rabbit Chimera Ant, Ramit, is using aura. While battles take place with ants versus the hunters, I didn't realize until now, but Gon is pretty good at showing mercy. Even if you think he's crazy, he shows respect to his enemies and warns them before he crushes them. This time, battle is stopped as Kite shows his ability to crazy slots and uses a scythe to mow down everyone in his path. Pako is now hiding under a bunch of skulls until an ominous feline figure shows up. Neferpito, or Pito, the royal guard. The dreams of Ramit to become the king are cut short by a terrifying being. As Pako is found out, and the king is close to being born, and the hundreds of human meatballs are soon to be used to feed and grow the most powerful Chimera Ant there ever was. But it just only gets worse as Pito uses the next scene as Pako's brain is plucked and pulled by the feline royal guard while they speak of the secrets of Nin. Only to be chopped up and used as food afterwards. Before Pito jumps and takes Kite's arm, Gon is ready to attack, only to be knocked out by Killua. Kite uses his ability to fight back a one-armed battle as the boys escape the demonic aura. The boys find the chairman, Netero, with two other strange men. One with a huge pipe named Moral, and a nice suit gentleman named Nov. They demean Killua as he speaks fearfully of Pito. After running and trying to get away from this dangerous entity, Netero decides to test them to see if they can handle the ant extermination mission. Gon is determined to save Kite, but the poor kid is not realizing that one of his first friend's head is resting in the cat Chimera Ant's lap. The boy meets a strange woman named Palm. She's like a Tim Burton-esque enhancer that works under Nov as a pupil. She doesn't believe the boys can make it through NGL, has one month time to see if the three can go, or Moral's pupils can go. Pito is already developing their ability while Knuckle and Shoot plan to fight the boys. They hate Biscuit's peck, though, and are not ready to teach the boys while reading some dirty magazines, as the two are barely holding on trying to improve their Ren. Palm has become annoying. I mean, she is interesting at times, but her gimmick is going to kill the boys if they don't improve to go to NGL. It just kind of gets old. Thankfully, Netero and his crew are scouting. Moral can control smoke, which I think is a really cool ability, as you can do basically anything with it, and Nov can create portals to transport anything. A new royal guard shows up, Shyapoof, and a new Nether is soon to come. Gon fights Knuckle and wins, like, firsthand. I will say Knuckle is a really good homage to Kuwabara, and I like his love for animals, because I love dogs immensely. And this other weird thing that we get is this guy named Gyro came up in NGL. So apparently NGL is run by drug manufacturing and criminal masterminds who are under the guise of being an eco-friendly country, and is most likely set up as one of the big bads of the world. I really feel bad for his backstory, because it's kind of rough. I mean, I imagine your father selling you for nothing after you gave him your very all, and you loved him deeply, but you still wanted to do everything for him. It's just horrible. And the idea that Togashi introduces the universe could care less for you. It's a theme of humanity's true nature, and we'll discuss a bit later. Because Gyro as a kid bashed his father's head in and began to create his own empire afterwards, I have a feeling he's going to encounter Gon one day. Some people don't think it's not going to be necessary, but I do think it's going to happen if we ever get that far in the mangas. As the fight goes underway, Knuckle absolutely demolishes Gon with his APR, Tax Ability. Like, imagine the only rest is an inability, and he takes away Gon's ability to use Nen until the end of the month. Killua gets the worst of it, as trauma from his family resurfaces in his mind, thinking he won't be good enough or be able to do his best. Sadly, I feel the same way, Kill. That, hey, Biscuit is there to knock some sense into him. Our codependency, Killua has, is crushing him. It's been a slow process, but it's slowly beginning to become very dangerous. Biscuit thinks he's going to give up too much, and sees this as a vital liability. Like, she literally thinks she's going to give up and abandon Gon, which I don't agree with. But, like, goddamn, Umi. The manipulation of Killua is just going so far. Like, putting a needle inside his brain to think that he's not worth anything, and he has to run to just go try to get him back to the Zoldycks. Killua might even have something more with Gon, though. I think it's more obsessiveness? Love? It makes you think. These comments about Togashi saying he's barely holding on is kind of really sad. Like, I want this manga to finish, but he really should focus more on his health overall at this point. Speaking of Killua holding on, and one in the end, the king is being born. Does he not look like Cell or Frieza from Dragon Ball? I mean, it's kind of crazy how similar they look, but, like, who cares? He's a king, and he's missed his fellow Chimera Ants without thinking, even abandoning the queen when the world guards go with him in tow. Only a single Chimera Ant comes to the extermination team to surrender, to save the queen. Many other ants decide to leave to become their own kings. The world now would be in turmoil as Miriam lays claim and even takes out a child without even second thought. He truly is a self-entitled person, someone who just doesn't care, almost like a toddler, a murderous toddler. Has Gon used Ninn now, and everyone is planning to go to NGL and stop what they can. It doesn't matter because the king and them are already far, far away into a new other country. The transition of Netero from this goofy old man to a stern brutalizer shows the difference in how the ants react. Colt tries to save the queen with the doctors of the Hunter Association giving their very all for her to be, but she's only worried about the king, and the final and gifting thing that she gives when she passes away, the name of the king, Meruem. It's tender and sweet, especially the baby that comes from her, which Colt vows to protect. Immoral shows he's such an awesome guy when I protect him. It's so wholesome. Even Knuckle is kind of just loving it at the moment. Meruem decides to go to this North Korea-esque place called Gorynu. It's basically he wipes out all the guards, including the dictator of the place, which I have no problem with, honestly, for a dictatorship that should be overthrown. He may hate humans, but I have to admit, he has a fair point with this corrupt government. Am I becoming pro-ant? Palm needs to stay chill with these gone dolls, and he needs to stay far away from this guy. Also, what is with all this Adapoc comments? They need to call them cougars? What did he mean by that, exactly? Why does Togashi make these side characters look so cool, though? I mean, even the news reporter looks like a main character. Like, makes me forget Chitou is stealing people's fingers and Gon is going on a date with a grown woman. I mean, I want to preference Gon as being nice, but Palm might be as bad as Hisoka at this point. Looks like we got another situation just like Hisoka, as Gon tries to make a deal with Palm to go out on a date with her. Yeah. Call the police. At least Netarun, the crew, is preparing for the final fight. Doesn't matter. It's going to become tense, because Yuppie, the third royal guard, is here. Almost all the main Chimera ants know Nen at this point. Even Netero thinks they may have to sacrifice someone to win. Ramit and Kula Part 2 is starting. He's struggling mentally. Ulumi's words is burned into his mind over and over. Run away. He put a needle in his head and had his entire time in suppressing his ability to do anything. After being freed, he eliminates Ramit. Starts to hunt the other Chimera ants down. It's not going to be easy. I think that'll get back to the save Gon from Palm. I never understood how she was able to see them from far away, unless it's emission. Her Freddy Krueger ass is caught by Nov and straightened out, while Knuckle and Morul outwit Chiru, Sonic the Hedgehog. I have to admit, the fight scenes are getting really good. Like, the anime did it justice, but I like how fluid the action scenes are in the panels in the manga. Finally, Gon hits his Nen back and confronts Kite, currently as a zombie, controlled by Pitou. As Gon tries to come for him, note, I think he's in denial of what's happening. He knows that he's dead, but he wants to believe that he's alive. It's just, now is his goal to save him, even if there is no way to do so. It's uncanny seeing Gon this angry, but it's very much welcomed. The ants have this taken over the Grano dictatorship, and even manipulated the former dictator, using his corpse to claim control. Gon is tested by Morul, only for him to nearly punch his life away. Scary stuff. Like, Gon is actually on his villain arc with these cold eyes. I like to have a little intermission with the spiders, going to eliminate the ants in Meteor City, how they call out Meteor City from being so useless, and how they are fighting, equally footing, with the Chimerants. The body who are alone is just so well drawn, and I just can't see a lot of people simping for Zazan. Even subscribing to her OnlyFans, just to be lucky enough to be turned into a deformed monster by her tail. It's neat seeing Kalto kill his older brother, who is a male, that dresses as a girl. I think there are a lot of great non-binary and LGBTQ and trans represented in this story. I really like their ability to be able to create NIN paper of sorts. I just like how Xbox is able to go against gender norms, especially in a shonen manga. We get to see different troupe members we didn't get to see before, like Bonolov, who has holes in his body, about to manipulate sound and fight people with it. Most importantly, Phaeton, who creates a literal sun with his ability to burn people alive. I see why he is so similar to Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho. Also, Phaeton is supposedly Chinese. In many parts of the anime, he speaks broken Japanese, and I find it intriguing because, as stated well back, the diversity in Hot Treasure makes it really alive. I mean, in many of the dubs, it just sounds so weird, but you know that he is from a different country, or he just is unable to speak the normal language. So Gon and Kill infiltrate the country as the ants plan to harvest thousands of people. Like, to turn them into chameleons. I want to say that Kill's scene is very interesting, because he gets to have a lot of great fight scenes, and he gets to make a new friend called Yukago. But he's also, like, almost taken out by these two ants, who can basically play darts. Essentially, Kill is so good, and he learned how to master darts at five, even though he's about to be killed by an inability through it. But he survives, and kills the siblings, and learns a new inability. At least, he thinks he does, with Yukago saving at the end. Also, with the real world, it's very tied into this arc, especially with politics' mission to go through, as the Hunter Association Moral, again, shows how much he hates these bureaucrat clowns. Gon fights over it, and overcomes his opponents with sheer intuition. It's really cool how Kill says he will take on anything from tanks, fighter jets, or whatever makes to stop an army all by himself. You think, after all this, that Gon meets a Chimera Ant who wants to help him take down the King, a bit with some reluctance. Mellorun accepts. Chimera Ant, essentially, is pretty weak, but his ability is insanely strong. A specialist ability can be used to help Gon. Even Gon is like, okay, I'll trust you, but if you lie to me, I'm going to kill you without reservation. I think Ginthru winds up on to something when saying there's something very wrong with Gon. It turns out Mellorun can make himself completely invisible using the ability God's Alibi, Perfect Plan. Anyone with him is virtually non-existent to anyone. The team is getting ready with Gon, While the King demolishes people in a game of Shogi and Go, I guess when you're the most powerful being out there playing board games, it's the best way to pass the time. That is until we meet a blind girl named Komugi with the abilities of an infant and the skills of a game called Gun-Gi. A board game called Gun-Gi is a game where you have to play as a blind girl, a blind girl named Komugi with the abilities of an infant and the skills of a game called Gun-Gi. A board game created in Hunter x Hunter that is similar to Shogi, but far more complex. That's a pretty fun fact. You can actually play the real game today. It just costs an arm and a leg to actually buy it. I love how Komugi acts. She just can't see anything, but she actually creams the King when it comes to the game, even though she's the most helpless being, like, ever. Apparently she's 19 or 20, but it's never stated as the King cannot beat her. Like, it doesn't matter anyway. The King's literally, like, a few months old. Even though people keep saying their relationship is very... weird. I mean, they both have the mind... he has the mind of an adult, and she kind of has the mind of a child, even though she's, like, a Gun-Gi nerd. That's... even... she's even stunned by her flawless plays, still. It turns out that the Ego, or Go player, hung himself, and the game continues. Komugi and Murom. Moral now sending smoke troops to scout the land. I really like Moral. I just... I can't get over, like, his ability, and also his overall personality. Like, even in real life, based on his ability, he was based on a stoner jazz singer from Japan. His abilities reference pop culture, like Purple Rain and Jailhouse Rock. I mean, he clowns on Chitou, who is faster than sound, and tricks him into his own ability to be caught in an attack. He literally just had to take a nap, make a cloud decoy, and then trap him. Murom, on the other hand, is just trounced by the blind Komugi. Nohoth also was really cool. Like, at least at first, he can travel anywhere using portals, using his ability Fourth Dimensional Mansion, Hide and Seek. Like, imagine you had this ability. You never had to pay rent. It's absolutely god damn. I want to mention the king even tries to use Komugi's own creative move, but she kills it before he's able to use it effectively. The way she just describes it as her baby makes me think that she is a lot older than she thinks. And she is. Moral gets another cool fight. Like, Leol can use an ability called IOU Dispenser Rental Pod to borrow some of the people's inabilities of his own. Like, Corolo, but Diet Corolo, but has a goal to make himself king of the ants. Basically, using IOUs is pretty funny. I mean, even though he's trying to go after the king himself, the king is still getting destroyed by Komugi. Game after game, even threatening to take her arm, only for her to deny it, saying she will bet her life if she loses. We gain some insight in Komugi was part of a large family who earned money on Gungi. The king even takes his arm for Komugi, which surprises everyone, including me, first time reading. Shoku is such a brown noser, going to help the king, but won't allow it, not until the game is over. It's so cute how Komugi wants him to be safe, even when he threatens her. I mean, the novel really fell off at the end. The aura from Pico is destroyed mentally. It's ironic, especially how he treated Killua and Gon prior. Of course, Kogashi has to show a politician's lifestyle. The director refuses, going after vulnerable women. In the manga, you can even see some very interesting toys she left off on the bed. Only for Palm to be in disguise, and the Hunter Association is kind of sick for this, but clever because they know exactly what politicians like the most. The imagery of Nav being taken apart by Pico just doesn't sit well with me. I'm being tortured in ways you can't possibly imagine. Cannot forget what they did to Pakal. At least Nav sets up an interest-related portal to the buildings for the other of the Chimera extermination team. Even as he leaves the ground groveling, knowing that he may not win, that their enemy is far above them, it's realistic. Shows that even at the top, pros can have humility. Layle fights Morl and it goes until the room is flooded to the ocean, a ability he stole from Morl's friend. I can't get over how Morl can create a cloud to stand on. Like, the dude could probably do anything with this milk. Create a house? Create a car? Create a wife? I mean, I hate to carry that big pie everywhere, though. He outsmarts the tiger by hiding underwater, using his breath to create carbon dioxide. Poison suffocates the Tony the Tiger ripoff, and Layle drowns with Morl's victory assured. Creepy Beezus is basically on his way while Palm finds a way out of the building and sees what is happening with the Chimera. Too bad she's being captured. Killua is finally waking up in the hospital after all the damage he sustained from the darts game. And he's charged constantly. Even the doctor is like, I will sell your body part if you don't pay up. I mean, it sounds more like the American healthcare system at this point. Ikago even goes with Killua tagging along after making up and becoming friends with him. The King loses once again to Komugi, a shypooth the snake thinks of taking Komugi out of the equation. Did I say how much I hate him? Like, seriously, he's not just stuck up. He's a brown noser. His nose is probably more like chocolate than anything at this point. I do hate him, but I find his overdramatic nature kinda funny at times with that violin he keeps pulling out. Now the gang is all together ready to take the ants and plan out their actions to be taken. The King can't win, and Poof wants to see it over with. Seeing this obstacle could be worse and worse, especially with all the humans they plan to capture and experiment on changing to Chimera ant soldiers. I knew it. Komugi has become a Nen user, and if it wasn't awakened before, it is now because she is so good at Nen. Her skills just enhance beyond the ability of Norm and Gungi. All natural talent. It's like he's a whole other dimension from all the Powerful King. I love it. When she asks him his name, he has an existential breakdown. It makes me know that the King is far more beyond what he originally is. Even when he tries to be evil and talk to his Royal Guards, Komugi is so weak she is attacked by a bird. He comforts her, crouching to her. It's like, aw, little Ant King is falling for the cute blind girl. 25 hours until it's time for the humans to be captured. It's martial law. Everyone is sent to the palace. Norm is now losing his hair over time and is starting to prepare to go. The King is questioning why he was born. Just like everyone else, I guess. We meet a very prominent Kairan called Dolphin, who learns Beezus lost palm and tracks her. The King is now losing himself in his thoughts, and more on what the gang are going through the portal. The dragon is streaking across the sky. I have to say, the scenes that follow, I have issues with them, and many did too when reading a bit. But the narration takes place over everything, and the narrator talks a lot. Even when they invade the palace, Neteru smacks Piso as Zeno uses Nen to emit everything to cause an extraction, using Dragon Dive. Neteru is, in fact, so old. He was an old man when Zeno was a baby. We learn that Neteru's ability to Honin-type Honin Bodhisattva allows him to attack someone so fast at untouchable speeds. Like, he spent decades honing his skills. Like, 60 years from he was 46, to basically punch extremely fast. Faster than sound, essentially. Piso uses their ability to Doctor of Life to save themselves. And the Experimentation team takes on muscle-headed Yuppie. It would be a massacre if it wasn't for planning and coordination. Yuppie is a monster that Shoot is melting to tears over while Gon fights with nothing but sheer determination. That is until Knuckle pulls out Hakuware, by Prophecy Chapter 7, on his ass. He's done so by using Malorne's God Accomplice to make it unreadable. Keep in mind, all this is happening less than 3 seconds when it starts. From the attack left, Komugi was hit, and now Piso must save her on the King's orders. The King takes Neteru to fight, and leaves Zeno to lead them away. The others try to outwit and take Yuppie apart, piece by piece. I gotta admit, respect for Shoot for doing what he could. Fighting an unwinnable battle with his free hands, he rides like a boar. While Killua and Gon go separate ways with different goals, Hikago is one of the Ever-Chamberians. Six seconds have already passed. Saeku is having a soap opera drama in his mind as he tries to fight Moral. He's not as strong, but his ability is so powerful, he's manipulating Moral into letting him use his abilities, taking away his massive pipe and leaving him virtually defenseless besides the smoke troops that he left beforehand. He's actually learning how to swim at 30 with funny message at the end, as I wanted to mention in the manga. Hikago has also been spotted impossibly being a fake, while Knuckle fights for his life. The artwork is just so good here, it's just the best so far with the way the action is used, how the visuals just distort and waver, like it describes a tense scene. You kind of forget the narrator when you realize what's happening and don't focus on it. Even the abstract visuals give off artistic motif for the emotional state of the characters. Knuckle has some big ball-saving shoot like that, like the chaotic lines are just something so scratchy and so like Togashi when he tries new ways to evolve his paneling. Hikago is about to ambush his guns after Pitou, threatening to not only beat them, but to do so, stealing Komugi if it meant doing so, like holy shit. Gon is finally showing his unhinged side to the fullest. The good boy we've been for this whole series showing his true colors as Pitou tries to save Komugi, even giving up their arm to do so. His anger is so visceral and hits hard, not understanding why he would go so far to save this blind girl. This is mirrored so well with Nobunaga's caring so much. Saver? What's that supposed to mean? It's finally coming together, all back in Yorknew. It just makes him enrage, his aura is turning violent and chaotic. Only Kyo has left him to comfort him, and he sees his turmoil. Waiting hours now to see Komugi revived and taking Pitou to revive Kite. Oh boy, 22 seconds have already passed from this scene. Chute is hanging on by a thread, and Menoram is running for his life to hide. Wolfman is after intruders, as Yuppie goes on a rampage. Hakuware is putting on a debt, but it's not enough to get him, as Yuppie is contemplating and growing smarter. Bye Chitou, didn't miss ya, as Zeno obliterates the overactive ant with Silva coming down on him like a hammer. 3 minutes have passed. Hikago uses his witch to get out of the sticky situation. Not really a fan of this scene, but I can appreciate it, since he's pretty weak from the rest. Yuppie finally gets the jump on Knuckle and pretends to explode, only to punch his lights out. This isn't until Kyo sends a thunderbolt down and shows his new ability, Godspeed, so fast that Kyo can't even keep up being down and shot constantly. Same thing as soon as Kyo has to run and hidden by another one. Morl and Knuckle are left by Yuppie to fight with the 89 smoke trooper to the left. Beezus is saved by the chimera ant, and Knuckle sends a final fist to Yuppie. 7 minutes have passed. Cyapoof's mini-version has been disabled, Morl's abilities, but he needs to figure out what to do next, as shoot is out of commission. Gon gives the call to funds, Gon, Cyapoof, to shut up. I almost collapse. Yuppie is closing in, to losing his nan with Hakuware accumulated. It transforms into this dangerous new state. Almost like a centaur, while Netero and Zeno and the king are at a standstill, talking and trying to understand each other. The king even thinks that he can co-exist under his rule, even saying that he would spare him. Zeno leaves at the very end, leaving only the king and Netero. Beedle stops Pooh from attacking Gon, trying to send a mini-version to the king, using Cyapoof. I can agree with a lot of things that the king is saying, but it feels like it's all under sinister intentions, like the cultists that asked Netero to ask them to do this, leaving no survivors for the ants, as Netero makes his choice to attack the king. I also want to preference that Netero was willing to let himself die, and kill everyone, just to kill all the ants. Because that's exactly what we're going to mention in just a minute. Morl is ready to give up his life to have Yuppie go bankrupt, as Knuckle is giving a choice to save Morl, if he lets his Hakuware go. He does so, making the whole battle pointless, but I disagree. Even if he lost his nan, Yuppie would have slaughtered them all anyway, it wouldn't have mattered, in my opinion. It's kind of a huge development that Yuppie decides to spare them, almost getting like he has some kind of humanity in him. The balding gnome comes up to help out, getting shoot out of the battle as soon as possible, while Netero is fighting mostly even with the ant king at first. I can't believe how so much a powerful user can't beat the king. Like, every hit is dodged, and the king barely causes attacks from his bodhisattva. Still no damage. Nothing is caused to the king at all. Not even barely any scratches. It's just amazing a little blind girl owns the chameleon and the king while the top tier ninja falters every time. It's like a real life Gungi game is played, and Netero is losing everything, including his leg. Killua finds out Pom has been mutated, and fights her as her brain has been morphed to obey the king. Her ability to black widow is so damn cool, like, turn your hair into armor to fight? I like how Knuckle can try to fight Poof as Killua is breaking down trying to find someone to help Gon in his miserable state. It only is through the memories of others that Pom comes to her senses. Strangely enough, I find her more interesting than others, and way less creepy in her new form. Gon is in a lucid state of rage, continuing to scare me and Pitou. It's 25 minutes have passed. Pitou even considers taking him down, seeing him as a threat to the king. I thought it was still relevant trying to brave and beat Welfin and his parasitic insects. I hate centipedes, and I didn't need to see them crawling in someone's head, but props for making me feel uncomfortable. Seems like Welfin is actually a former loyal soldier of Gyro. He begins to gain his former memories as a human, as Gyro's MIT soldier. I'll admit, Netero is impressive for an old man, using all of his abilities, and even his final attack, Zero Hand, to attack the king. Losing his arm? Losing his leg? Doesn't matter. You think I need two arms to pray? It gives me shivers as he sends his final explosive attack, only for Mirum to barely be scratched. Another call line opened up as Netero is shriveled and defeated. You know nothing of the bottomless malice within the human heart. And boom. He sticks a finger in his heart, activating a dirty nuke. The poor man's rose. A mushroom cloud appears, taking both of them out, and everything around them, for that matter. Saipouf showing his inside more, and Yuppie is with him, seeing this. All hope is lost for the king, only for him to see these barely breathing carcasses still going. Both giving him everything they have to regenerate, and becoming whole. It's a really bizarre scene, but I can't lie. It's kind of beautiful with the visuals. As the king now knows his name, Mirum. Killapalm and Ikago come together. Gon tells Pitou to get up and take him where he wants to go. G's gone, and we stop fretting to kill the blind girls. Poor Komugi has no idea what's happening. Wanting her love, and me and King to come rescue her. Lekko gives Pouf a good punch, as Pouf plans on murdering Komugi. But who doesn't want to offer at this point? At least Mirum is now able to pull off some crazy attacks. God level now, as Pouf tries to stall Mirum from learning about Komugi. Memories are unclear, learning about how it may change everything. I don't admire him doing this offer, the king, at all really. As Killapalm is ironically protecting Komugi against Pouf. While the king is back and Gon has Pitou right where he wants him. As Pitou learns that Komugi is safe, the truth comes out clear and true. Kite is dead. One of the greatest scenes in the whole story happens as if you think Gon will get murked like his friend before. It's a change. His aura, black and broken. Remember how, in the beginning of the scene, how deeply involved that Kite was with Gon? Only becoming like a second father to him. Someone that was so important to him. He is what he would think Jing would be. A good father. Someone that was so close. He gives up everything he could to have his aura, all the potential. If he never has aura again, he doesn't care because he becomes a grown version of himself and his tone is undercaring. It's such a great transformation because this whole time we've been seeing him slowly become this. This thing. This thing of anger. This thing of uncaring. Even though he's just a kid, he's still learning how to control his emotions. Breaks Pitou. Beats them. Gives him a powerful janken, crushing their head. He may not be able to use his nin, but gives it all while Keola follows him, sees what he became. Gon even loses his arm again. Everything explodes while Keola begs Gon to stop. But it doesn't matter. Keola's finished. So is Gon. Some people may say that Gon has a little death compared to every character in the series, and I disagree. Where do we have someone who internalizes their issues and uses their own self-interest to fervor his goals? He's a kid, but he's got so many traits to become in line with our antagonists. This direct movie is more in line with the spiders than it is with what he would say he would be. He's a hypocrite, of course. But he's so well developed, I just don't care because he became this and he always was this. It just bottled up until it came out. The King has had enough of taking out everyone in a flash, literally for chop. Even now he plays the game to see if he can find Komugi and figure out Pouf's secret behind this. Miriam absorbs both abilities from the world guards, but is better. Like he can literally sense the emotions of people just by holding out his arms and showing his end. Han runs for her life and hides the caring in the blind girl. Turns out Yukako and Welfen were friends in NGL. Welfen even tries to fight Yuppie, but without warning he falls to his death. The radiation from the poor man's rose consumed the ants. Even Pouf is losing it and Miriam is close to learning who his playmate was all this time. All this radiation so far is going to kill all of them soon enough. There's something to be said about humanity's cruelness, how the ants are treated as monsters, but how we consider them as just lesser beings. We've done many horrible things for ourselves as humanity. The question is asked, because I feel humans can be worse at this time. Tragedy, atrocities, adultery, corruption, war, so much more caused by this. It's creating a bomb that can do far worse than any man, any weapon can do. Welfen discovers the limping in Miriam's questions and he's scared so much He almost ages to 100 years as he conflicts what to say. One word of what he needs to tell the king. Pouf is close to falling like Yuppie did, as he tries to hide the secret to his death. Welfen is struggling as his mind is becoming a mess and death is imminent. Speaking the words, everything is coming together. He's trying to figure out what to say, what to say to the king. It's all just a myriad of chaos and confusion, but then his mind opens up. He now remembers and goes to her, thanking his royal advisor one last time, and Welfen one last time, telling him to go set out to his own goals and do what he wants to do. He finds a blind girl and palms together. Although she was tasked to never let the king see her, she still bows to him as the king and asks palms for her, even making her realize the greatness of the king. He bows to her, and it absolutely shatters her, because in her DNA now, she is a chameleon. He only desires to be with her in the last moments he has, while Shia Pouf is dead among the thousands of humans that are in a stir. Welfen, Jesus, and Ko are off to find Gyro in Meteor City. The little girl eaten by the queen comes back as Reina, the aunt, the mother of the two, coming realizing who she is. Ko is the brother, and Reina is the sister. It's just so wholesome and so well done. The Hunter Association shows up on the scene and sees Gortrail, as the real leader, actually retired decades ago. Moral is in the hospital, healing with the others, and a CD is found made by Metero to see after his passing. No one is hanging it off a string, trying to survive after giving everything up. Scylla comes up with an idea to try to save him. Turns out the little baby from the experiment queen is now a little girl, with a cold save in her name, Kite. They survived another body, but how? And what happened to Mirim and Kamui? The most beautiful and heart-wrenching scene in all of manga and anime. The two are playing Gungi, joking with each other and talking, telling her his name, enjoying her telling him his, only for her to defeat him. Kamui thought he could win. Mirim thought he could win. Kamui is crying, happy, thinking she doesn't deserve this happiness. Mirim tells her that she has very little to live. The king realizes she was born for this moment, and they continue to play. Nothing can be seen in this fake room. He's never won a single battle with her, and he's realized this. They talk, and they talk. Mirim asks if she's still there, knowing the poison is coming. Even asking to hold her hand, knowing they'll always be together. At least asking her to say his name one last time. She tells him, Good night, Mirim. I'll join you soon. You won't be alone. After this, I knew this series was special. Not only one anime has given me tears in my eyes on my first watch or read, I never hit as hard, knowing they only truly loved each other in the most unorthodox of loving ways. It was so organic, the tragedy of it all sits so different. After everything the chairman Netero planned, his death, or the election for the new chairman, here comes the Zodiac, as all of them are part of the elite, an association that's been by the twelve animals of the Zodiac calendar. But guess who is now on the board? Ging. Yes, surprise, surprise, the bum dad has that popular. I don't think I'll name all the Zodiacs, only ones that are the most prominent in this arc. Like Pariston Hill, reference from Paris. Hilton, known as the rat of the Zodiacs. He's innocent looking, blond guy with a good smile, you know, the typical evil politician. Almost all of the Zodiacs hate him, even I do. How fake he is, trying to be voted in as the new chairman of the Hunter Association. Ging also stakes a claim to be the new chairman, only to be equally hated by his peers. I mean, Pariston is doing kickbacks for his company, he's making hunters slaves to his temp agency, and quite a few hunters are missing under him. When Mizai and Nana, the cow essentially, just keeps going on about how he's a rat, literally and figuratively. He's so sus, it's like it's not even funny. Even Paris tries to care about Gon, when he asks about Ging. Well, he knows he's using it as his ploy and plots, and asking to go visit him, only to leave him to say no one. He says his son will survive. Like, Ging needs to go see his son. You aren't sleek. Everyone suggests a drawing, and Ging wins in terms of the roles of the election. The votes are sent out to everywhere, and I have to say, despite Ging being an absentee dad, he's really good at influencing how things will go. Like, he was friends with Nitero. They're hunters at the very core. They're very selfish. Voting begins, and Hisoka even votes somewhat, only just to see how strong everyone is. Lumi even shows up. Remember the fifth member in the photo of the Zoldycks? Well, that fifth member of the siblings had been locked up in the basement the entire time. Votes are in, and the requirements aren't made. So, time for another vote. Gerson needs to not be anywhere near power, like he's such a monster that everyone knows is just looking at him. Killua is back, and now he's looking after his long-lost sibling he's finally remembering, Alloka, and he needs her to steal Gon. It's so awful no one can respect Alloka's pronouns, and the kanji in the manga, they refer to them as male, when only Killua refers to her as her. It looks like Killua is the only one to talk to her, as everyone has locked her up this whole entire time, not even caring for her pronouns, her safety, her life, anything for that matter, just keeping her as a pet, all because she can grant wishes to anyone who asks, but at a huge cost. Literally, Miluki asked for a new computer last time, and their wish granted can be anything, even become a millionaire. If someone refuses them, or can't fulfill the wish, there's a price. Die. But not just that, everyone you're closest to also dies, thrown out into a bloody pulp. That doesn't get you granted the friar, because based on the demands and the simple tasks, from a handshake or being held, but if the wish is too big, she can ask for your liver, your intestines, even your life. Only Killua knows there's much more to these rules than the unresulted family. Lumi is so worried about this, he asks his boyfriend Hisoka to go help stop this from happening, because if the wish is too big to save Gon, they could transfer to the Zoldyck family, killing all of them, all the butlers, and even Hisoka, and thousands more. Alluka asks for Killua to die, only to make her think he did, completing all her demands. Alluka isn't just one person however, there's two of one, making the wish, called Nanika. Turns out Peristem wants to make the speeches in front of the entire association of the hunters. Killua threatens his family, and wants to take Alluka out, even wishing to kill his mom if he doesn't leave with Alluka to go save Gon. Despite this, I am happy Killua is finally standing up to his family, and the relationship with his sister is the most adorable thing ever. Killua gets Moro's help to try to get Alluka and him there, but the butler Gotou stops them before like before, as Non decides that he will be accompanied by other butlers. It's so nice Killua cares for his sister, he doesn't know she's a girl and needs other ladies with her to take care of her needs. Hey, even Kanari is coming along, even the oldest caretaker of the butlers, Toussabon, and her granddaughter Amani. She takes Toussabon's pinky as a demand as they are off. Cleorio is back screaming over the phone to try to negotiate, pissing off Gotou, who then switches off to Moro, who handles all the details of the conditions where Gon is the only one in the hospital. Even Kurapika, the one who should be there, isn't answering his phone. Cleorio heads the hunter association election and opens up the words we all were thinking. Why won't you visit your son? Why are you such a deadbeat dad? And uses an intermittent punch that knocks the bum off his feet. Like hell yes, Allurio, that felt so good. And the enemy made it even better. He needs to suck it. The only ones left in the voting is Cheetle, the dog, Cleorio the pro hunter, Paris and the rat, and many others who I don't really care for. I don't think feel are important. I mean, hey, Biscuit even tried the NMS, but Ging is left out getting pity votes. Lumi is now fully after Killua in the car chase scene. They're knocked off the road. The two brothers face off, making sure Alucard is safe. Lumi thinks Kill is hiding the rules of the wishing. It's kind of funny. Iizuka jokes about killing Killua just to have him see Lumi's aura. Iizuka might be a better person than Ging if only slightly knowing he wants Gon to live, but I think that might be worse, honestly. Yota was cut down by Iizuka, ending up with a joke. Like, seriously, Bungie gum is so versatile for an ability. It's not even fair. Killua is on the run using God's deed. Susabone transformed into a bike to chase the siblings. I'm glad Canary is helping Kill out, but she isn't really doing much. I mean, hey, at least Moro is helping. Lumi is sending people stuck with his meals to attack. I have to say, it's a pretty scary way to die. You have no control, only to lose your life and work until you die. Like, that's pretty bad. I don't really care about them, but we got a lot of anti-Netero faction trying to be relevant in the election. We only got Parison to place first, Cheetle second, Trayden third, and L'Oreal is in the top four. Parison on his instigation time, while Killua is now in the air and soon surrounded by Lumi and his needle people zombies. Susabone also catches up with Amane. Alucard makes a demand only for her to heal Susabone. Sokka is now losing his goddamn mind, wondering who to kill first to see how many enemies he can make. Just be early. Lumi looks like Sadako. Like, it looks like the anti-Netero group is going after Trayden. Sokka and Lumi, looks like he's, they've killed him already. While Moro demeans him on the phone. King decides to get Cheetle a pep talk and knows how to Parison thinks. It's a game to him. He knows he can't. Parison even recovered 5,000 coons of the chameleon humans from the incident. there are just four left. Cheetle, Mizai Storm, L'Oreal, and Parison. Cheetle recommends L'Oreal for chairman. He tries to get out of this. He doesn't want to be there. So he just tells him he'd be the chairman for his own benefit. All he wants to do is go save Gon right now. You've been asking how much time wasted, not doing a thing while he's chasing the chameleon war. Everyone loves this. Cheetle is able to have Alka heal Gon. Parison the rat tries to use this for his advantage. And I have to say, it's really good at making this kind of speech. Convincing many is Alka. Those Gon destroyed body. Lumi now feeling this aura wants this power all to himself, controlling Cheetle and then Alka through him. L'Oreal wins the election and Parison asks for a vote of confidence. That is until Gon shows up and he's alive. Sweet scene continues as L'Oreal hugs him. The election now goes on to Parison, but he doesn't matter as Gon now is seeing Ging. After what happens to Kite, he finally meets Ging. Rooney is more one-sided. Finally, Ging is giving some good advice to go apologize to Kite, but he still is trying to get rid of his kid. But thank God the audience is calling his bum ass out. Parison asks Gon who he should vote for, just so for the rat, saying L'Oreal is a doctor. He doesn't need to be the Hunter Association chairman. Innocent yet ignorant. At least he will be seeing Ging soon enough. You think Parison is going to win though, but he pulls up everyone's leg and lets Cheetle win the position. Pulling her and saying he won't pull her leg the next time. Parison is a pretty scary person despite just being introduced. He's a typical politician, but there's something more intense about him. Rooney goes after Killua and Alka, now trying to take control of the two. He can manage the two. The guy is sent out and I have to say, having a risk-free wish is just too powerful. There needs to be some risk to make it interesting. But it's still sad how Killua treats Nanika in this scene. They are part of Alka, and she even scolds her big brother, even begs for forgiveness as the villain watches the tearful moment. I don't get the next story about the Koala Bear, who your aunt formerly assassinated, but I do know that Kite owns him, and Gon is saying sorry. The chapter of this was deliberately drawn bad because I thought she had some depression and some messed up thoughts at this time when drawing. I just left it as is, but the anime is very suitable to view it. But now Gon will finally meet Ging on the biggest tree in the world, the World Tree. Gon, Killua, and Alka go together, but Gon separates with a goodbye. It's touching, yet feels a bit too short. I wish we had a bit more time with this, but it's important that Gon climbs the tree with zero nin, which is extremely impressive. He meets Ging, they catch up and talk, how Ging was actually an archaeologist genius, as we mentioned way back in the first arc, and became a hunter to do so. Apparently the tree, the two, isn't actually as big as it can be. The world itself is actually small compared to the massive, dark continent surrounding it, Pandora's Box of unknown and horrors that can be defined as common sense. The ending scene with Morul drinking Tindra's death in good spirits and many other happy moments, aside from Killua sitting there watching and guarding the scarlet eyes of the butlers and the soldiers, having grave for Gotem, and the bodies of Mirim and Kamugi hand in hand. That's the end of the current anime, but that's not everything. It's a great conclusion, but it doesn't feel really definitive. No, there are too many things that need to be answered.
