Nothing to say, yet
The host of Faith Alive in 5, Dr. Faye, discusses the power of fear and why it is not a tool for success. She emphasizes that fear is an enemy and urges listeners to reject it. Dr. Faye refers to a verse in 2 Timothy 1:7 which states that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. She encourages listeners to overcome fear by finding confidence in Christ and reciting this verse daily. The transcript ends with contact information for Dr. Faye. Welcome to Faith Alive in 5, the 5-minute gospel. Now here's your host, Dr. Faye. Every Bible reader has heard of this one verse that seems to be one of the most powerful verses in scripture concerning fear. In 2 Timothy 1 and 7, it tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. So then the question becomes, then why are people afraid? If fear is not a tool for your success, it's not a tool for your being triumphant in every situation, it's not a tool for you reaching your destiny and your purpose, then why are we handling it so carefully as if it's an ally? Fear is not an ally, it is an enemy. And there are many people right now who are plagued with fear. Fear of, fear in something, fear of something, whether it's danger around your neighborhood, danger inside of your home, danger for your children, your grandchildren, danger for your city, your communities, whatever it is, it is called fear. And it is an archenemy of those who believe in God. So what I want you to do today is to pay attention for the next couple of minutes so that I can help you to be empowered that you can tell fear to go back to the hell from where it came from. You see, the apostle Paul wrote these words to his mentee of Timothy, someone who he had taught, he had trained, he had shown him the mercies and the grace of God. Paul knew that Timothy struggled with timidity in his personality and that he often needed to encourage Timothy because Timothy didn't feel qualified, he didn't feel good enough. How many of you don't feel qualified? You don't feel good enough, maybe you lost your job or somebody told you that you were not fit for that job, you were not their person in your relationship and you had to recoup some kind of way, regroup and find your own identity. But yet you're still clouded and crowded in your soul with the spirit of fear. It originally intended for those who were cowardice, those who didn't have the courage to get up out of bed. So Paul was telling Timothy and the word we use for encouraging is also exhorting Timothy, don't let the spirit of fear keep him from preaching the gospel in this case. Keep him from living because at the end of the day, it was not only him being able to stand up before people or in his mother's house or his grandmother's house to teach people about Jesus Christ, it was him feeling the confidence and assurance that Christ was within him. How many of you understand, know and realize that the person who really knows and has the revelation that Jesus Christ lives within them can step out of the boat and walk on water? Yes, remember the story when Jesus was walking on the water and Peter said, Lord, if it's you bid me come, Jesus spoke one word, he said, come. Yes, Jesus was walking on the water, Peter stepped out of the boat and began to walk toward him because Jesus gave him a word and that word was come. Situations in life, storms, the waves began to arise around him and intimidated him. So he became timid, he became cowardice and he began to sink in the water. But Jesus reached out and pulled him up and many will say, well, he never should have, Peter never should have looked away from the Lord, but don't judge him. What are you looking at? Who are you looking at to deliver you, to save you? Are situations capturing your attention like the waves were capturing Peter's attention? Your husband threatened to leave you so it caught your attention. Your children are on drugs or you haven't heard from them in weeks or months or years and that's caught your attention. Your wages have decreased instead of increased, that's caught your attention. Your body is not doing what you have prayed that it would do and that's caught your attention. So there are things in your life that has caught your attention and has caused fear to stand in as the Lord over your life. So I want you to spend this week going back to this scripture in the book of 2 Timothy 1 and 7 and speak it out loud, speak it to yourself aloud every day and say God has not given me a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
