The episode concludes with a reminder that the calling is a gift, but the choice is yours. Welcome to Faith Alive in 5, the 5-minute gospel. Now here's your host, Dr. Faye. I don't know about you, but I like my life to be uninterrupted by hiccups, pain, agony, stress, and all of the things that really describe adversity. Scenarios of hostility, bad relationships, problematic incidents with health, with wealth, with flow of life, with your God flow, with your life flow, with your energy flow, with your joy flow, with your happiness gene. We would like an uninterrupted flow, but that doesn't happen, does it? Because there's a thing called adversity that seems to find its way in our everyday waking, walking, talking lives. So during this month, I am focusing on finding strength in adversity. Number one is how to recognize adversity in our lives. Some people think, well, I know adversity, anything that's interrupting my flow, my day, my joy, my peace, that is adversity. Well, let's take a closer look at it because adversity for you may not be adversity for me. Not all adversal items fit in the same container. So we have to take a closer look at it because you can watch people cry over something that you think is just silly. Why are they crying over that? That's not a big deal. But for them, it's a big deal because it's adversity. It's something that is causing friction in their joy, friction in their peace, friction in their way of breathing easily. Webster describes or defines adversity as a state of instance or series of continued difficulty or misfortune. Most of us who are familiar with the story of Job, we can say, oh boy, did he have a day of adversity. He had a lot of stuff happen in one day, in a short period of time. There goes his wealth, there goes his health, there goes his children, and there goes the woman that he's in love with, yeah? There goes his faith and confidence in humanity with those friends that dropped in. There goes his day, yeah? But in all of his adversity, the Bible said that Job did not consider sinning against God, but he helped God to be faithful. Sometimes people tend to forget that they're not in it alone. I know you feel alone, been there, done that, post a child, prove it. But I'm telling you, you're not alone in these adverse situations. When life begins to friction, cause friction in your flow, opposition, hostility, misfortune, hardship, whether it's your money flow, your health flow, your relationship flow, your baby, you know, sick, whatever it may be that's bad or unfavorable, an adverse criticism from your colleagues at work, adverse reaction even to medication, side effects, adversity, things that happen as we are still experiencing this post-pandemic rebirth cycle. There are many people who are still experiencing some adverse reactions and responses to what COVID brought into our planet, washed and cleansed of many things, and yet rebirth in other areas of our lives. So as we together, you and I move into this flow together on how to find strength in the midst of adversity, keep in mind, there are some scriptures that will speak to us loudly, some more than others. Jesus said in St. John 9 and 10, he said, the thief come not before to steal, to kill and to destroy, but I, your Messiah, has come that you might have life and have Zoe life. So God quality of life more abundantly. We're just getting started and I want you to know that there is hope for you regardless of what you're going through in the midst of adversity.
