We are going to uncover how to listen to God and identify your word for this year in three easy steps. And maybe you're having a hard time understanding what a word of the year is. And maybe you have some questions just like this. What does the word of the year mean and why does it hold significance? What exactly is a word of the year? Listen, if you're unfamiliar with this idea, it is essentially referring to the single word that summarizes your objectives, your areas of where you want to focus, and areas of your life that you would love to enhance or make better, to do better, to be better. This word can also reflect goals you want to reach this year. Think of it as your guiding word serving as an umbrella for all that you aim to accomplish throughout the year. Through God, our Savior, there are numerous advantages in this practice, brothers and sisters. It serves as an anchor. It offers motivation and helps you make decisions through our Lord and Savior. It allows you to have an impact on God's kingdom as he's guiding you to pursue his will, his purpose. This word serves as a reminder to return to your core purpose, God. It reminds you to focus on what matters. It acts as a banner representing your overall theme for the entire year through God, our Savior. God's word for you this year will align your heart with his, align your mind with his, align your action with his, and refocus on what truly matters. Let me share with you, brothers and sisters, what my word of 2025 is that God gave to me and we'll break down how I got there. God gave me this year the word innovate, which means to make changes in something established, especially by introducing new methods, new ideas, or products. In the Bible, God's creation is innovation. So him giving me this word allows me to know that this year's theme is to make change in something established, especially by introducing new methods and new ideas, helping me realize what this word for the year truly means and how God is going to pursue me in his will and his purpose this year. Listen, brothers and sisters, there are countless exciting words to consider. You can even search online for ideas. Options are endless. Words like fierce, growth, strength, consistency, and abundance. The choice is yours. However, I believe that your word shouldn't just be picked from an impressive list because it sounds appealing. Rather, it should stem from your personal journey with God and what you genuinely aim to accomplish in the coming year. Next, you may ask the question, how to listen to God and discover your word of the year. Now that you're familiar with my chosen word and the method I use to discover it, how can you find your own word this year from God? Well, here are the three straightforward steps to help you listen for guidance from God that helps me. Don't let this process stress you out. And don't worry if your word doesn't come to you right away, brothers and sisters. It is perfectly fine. Mine did not come right away. It took many thoughtful prayers. It took many questions and asking God where he was leading me this year and what his will was for me. Your word will come to you in time. So take it easy. This journey is meant to be enjoyable as you explore what God has planned for you. Let us begin with the steps. Number one, reflect and pray on your word of the year. First and foremost, I encourage you to deeply pray about this. Invite God into this journey and seek his guidance for the right word. Let me give you a sample of this prayer. Lord, I seek clarity on the one essential task I am meant to focus on in the coming year. Please assist me in removing all distractions so I can gain a clear understanding of this singular purpose for my life. Help me to embrace this core insight that will guide me back to the objective you wish for me to concentrate on this coming year, Lord, 2025. Lord, I place my trust in you. I love you and am eager to embark on this journey with you in this next year. I pray that my word for the year is deeply rooted in my heart and revealed to me through scripture over and over. May the understanding of my word and purpose for the next year come to fruition, Lord. I pray all of this in Jesus' name, amen. Step two, journaling, making a daily note of what is God saying to you. I encourage you to start journaling. This is very simple, yet it is an effective way to connect with God. Grab a piece of paper or use a preferred journal method. Personally, I pray before I journal in my home, in a place that I feel closest to God. Sometimes, when I wake up, I settle there and I pray and enjoy some quiet time first and read his scriptures. During this time, sometimes I receive many profound insights and experiences with the Lord. I invite you to discover what this practice could look like in your own life. This is one of the beautiful steps in this process, so I encourage you to do this daily with the Lord and pray and ask him for insight. Ask him to speak to you and you will see him show up for you. I encourage you, journaling with God and putting your words on paper will make a difference. So prioritize this time with the Lord and listen to what God is telling you to focus on for this year, 2025. Do this each and every day without expectation and prioritize this time with God. And step number three, Google your word. After you receive this word and you finally narrowing it down to what God is telling you, what your central theme or common denominator, I encourage you to search for what the word means online. Check it out on Google in a dictionary or in a thesaurus to discover other variations of this word that may resonate with you more effectively, allowing God to show you where to turn, what word it is that you are going to use for your theme this year in God. Focus on him. Identify your word of the year is an excellent method to clarify your path for the upcoming year and align with where God is guiding you, brothers and sisters. To discern this word, simply engage in prayer, journaling, identifying recurring themes in your reflection, and then search online to find the ideal word. Keep in mind this process should be enjoyable and not overwhelming, brothers and sisters. Take your time with it. It is designed to be a delightful way to embrace God's guidance for the next year, 2025. I pray that this resonates with you, that you can go through this process and God can be with you. Listen, I didn't get my word right away. I'm sorry I didn't get this episode out quicker. My intention was to have it for you at the beginning of the year, but this was a process for me as well. So like I said, you may not understand what the word is right away. Continue to keep praying, continue to keep journaling, and once God shows you and reveals the theme for you to reflect on this year, pray about it, bring it to the Lord again and ask Him to reveal it more in detail. And you will be amazed what God tells you, what this next year He wants you to focus on. Brothers and sisters, God is a merciful God, He is a gracious God, He is a loving God, He is a forgiving God. But most of all, He is an amazing God that gives us the ability to hear from Him. Take the time to hear His words, His verses, His reflections, His themes for you this year. I hope you enjoyed this episode. I hope you take all the steps and God speaks to you and gives you your word for 2025. I ask you, brothers and sisters, to share this with someone else because we all need God each and every day and we never know who needs to hear from Him or what it's going to do in their life because we never know what somebody's walk is on this earth or what they're going through. But through God, through something like this, God can speak to them. God can lift them up. You can be the guiding light that they need. So I encourage you to share this episode with someone in need, someone you can think of that needs to hear from God. So until next episode, keep bibling, keep spreading God's word and find your year for 2025. Until next episode, brothers and sisters, I hope you enjoy your week. I hope you enjoy this beautiful sunshine and I hope that God is with you and blesses you abundantly. Indeed. Let us pray. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Father, I come before you through your Son, Jesus Christ. And I just want to say thank you, Father. Thank you for guiding us. Thank you for giving us your words, your verses. Thank you for speaking to us. Thank you for allowing us to hear your words, to hear your voice. Father, we just want to say, we love you. We praise you. We glorify you. And we do all of this in union. Lord use us for your vessel, for your kingdom, for your purpose, to glorify you, Lord, because you are the King Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And we are in awe of you. We cannot thank you enough for all that you do for us, all the blessings you give us, all the forgiveness you give us, all the mercy you give us, all the grace you give us each and every day. Father, we just want to say thank you. We love you and we praise you. And we pray all of this in Jesus name, amen.
