Sabrina, from Brazil, moved to Australia at 34 to learn English, choosing it over America and France. Adelaide was her first choice due to beaches and wineries. She faced cultural differences, like less physical contact. She loves everything in Australia, except the weather, and has no plans to move back to Brazil. So what is your name? My name is Sabrina. And how old were you when you moved? I was 34 years old. Were you forced to leave, or like, did you have a choice? I just wanted to leave. And what caused you to leave? What caused me? I didn't want to live in Brazil anymore. I just wanted to move to countries, yeah. Did you want to leave? Yes, I did. What influenced your decision to move to Australia? Learning English. And was there any main reason, like, in particular? No, just the English. Ah, yes, there was the beaches. And did you have any other options than Australia? Yes, I did have options. And what were they? First option was America, but it was too hard to get a visa there. After I chose France, but I didn't want to learn French. I wanted to learn English. What knowledge about Adelaide did you have before? Just beaches and wineries. And did you know anyone here before? No, no one. Was Adelaide your first choice, like in Australia, like your first state? Yes, that was my first. And did you consider any other choices? Very little good cause, but there was not, yeah, we just came to South Australia, yeah, we just chose. Were there any cultural shocks here? Any what?
