Supporting local churches and local communities
The podcast hosts discuss why elders in church do not fully tithe. They mention that pastors often talk with intercessors about elders not giving their full tithe, as they are part of the committee that collects and counts the tithes. The hosts question why elders do not give their full tithe and suggest that it may be due to familiarity or a lack of understanding of the importance of tithing. They also discuss the biblical references of Hophni and Phineas, who collected tithes but did not give their portion to God. The hosts emphasize the importance of pastors rebuking and correcting those who do not give their full tithe. They also mention that only about 30% of people in a church usually give tithes, and remind listeners that God is the source and that pastors should not compromise their teachings for fear of losing financial support. The hosts extend the discussion to society and families, encouraging listeners to contribute to their communities and be vigilant in watching over One, two, testing the microphone, testing the microphone, one, two, one, two. Welcome to the corner. And I'm Pastor Cardy, I'm here with the co-host, the band of God from Nimbe town. The war. Welcome to the war. The battle. I'm glad to have you here. It's a privilege to be on this host corner with Pastor Cardy. It's always a delight, always a delight. Glory, glory, glory, glory. Today we'll be talking about why elders in church don't play tight. Good. That's one everybody needs to hear. Yes. Because, you know, many pastors talk with intercessors that challenge us being elders. Elders in church, not being full tight. Because the pastors know the jobs and the businesses these elders do. And they are all part of the committee that counts, collects counts. Yeah. And give a count of tight. But they've noticed that... Elder money, not the day. Not the day. Why that? So we've got to investigate that. So you tell us on the comment section, why do you think elders do not play tight fully in church? Is it that they are above the law? Because even the Pharisees play tight. So me, excuse me. I'm sorry. So elders, why would I know they play money? Therefore that they play tight. So that things will not be tight. So things will not be tight. Yes. So maybe we need to have some elders in the house. Yes. But what do you think? Why? What do you think? Sometimes, you know, it could be familiarity. Familiarity with the things of God. We've seen this in scriptures, in the lives of Hophni and Ameah. Hophni and Ameah. Yeah, who were the children of Elijah the priest. They were collecting the tithes and offerings, but they were not paying it. They were not giving God. Like you said, they were not paying it, they were not giving. The portion that was supposed to be for God, they consumed it. And they did not even give their own. And they did not even give their own. Very interesting question, anyway. Does the Levites pay tithes? So, the Levites did not pay tithes. However, of all that... Because they had nothing to pay. And the tithes was for them. For them, for their sustenance. But even yet, when people brought their sacrifices, offerings and tithes, there was a portion that was strictly for God. And it was not to be touched. So, we can also say they pay tithes. Because when the people bring tithes to them, out of that which has been brought, there was a part that is purposely for God, and there is another portion that is for them. So, these Hophni and Ameah guys, besides other atrocities that we know, we read of in the scriptures, they chose not to give God's portion. So, we don't know if these Eldads are of the order of Hophni and Ameah. They are in the same WhatsApp group. So, it's interesting. I think another... Yeah, I mean, and it's common. But not even apart from Eldads. Even in some cases, even the pastors themselves did not pay tithes. But I don't know. I don't really know. The only thing I know though is that most churches, regardless of however you look at it, no matter how big the church is, most of the time, just about 30% of people pay tithes in a church. Only 30%, most of the time, carries the remaining 70%. And unfortunately, the people that complain more about money, or maybe a church is giving, or a church is taking, are those people that don't even give at all. Right, right. So, most of the time. I mean, ever since I heard of that statistic, or I knew about that statistic, well, I've had some form of peace. Because sometimes you may think your church is peculiar. Right, right. But we found out it's kind of a global phenomenon. Only that it's bad, because then, if that is the case, now you now discover that in your church or your place, you might have some people who are heavy tithers. Now, because you know what they are giving means to the church, and you know that others do not give like that, if you are not taking, you don't want to, this is what happens whenever it gets to a point where sometimes some pastors can't even remind or correct certain people, because if they leave your church, the offering has gone, the tithe has gone, and you know that these other people are not paying. I don't know. Yes, it's a fine line, it's a fine line, but this is an encouragement to pastors out there, the genuine ones doing the work, putting in the effort, working day and night throughout the week. We really give a big shout-out to you. Give more courage for all what you're doing. But with regards to what we are talking about, it's a proof that the scripture says that we should not put our trust, woe to those who put their trust in the arm of flesh, and who trust in princes. Even princes, people who are high ranking, who have gold to pass to them, we are not supposed to put our trust in men, but we are supposed to put our trust in God. And it's true in situations like that, it may be challenging to reprimand someone who, you know, they have given up years, but if our focus is not the gold, but God, then we will rebuke the disciples, or we will rebuke the people who have been giving to us as pastors to shepherd over. Why? Because the scripture says we'll give account, and we'll watch over their souls. We'll watch over their souls. So it's very interesting and very imperative for pastors to place a balance between money and the word. Yeah, go ahead. Yes, and from the beginning, the way it all starts, it's from the beginning, the way you teach, the way you interact with the people, you let them know that you love them, you cherish them, you acknowledge the wonderful things they are doing, but you will not be doing your job as a pastor if you cannot tell them the truth. That's why you're there. Right. So... Yeah, I mean, I think pastors need to also know that, I mean, at the end of the day, God is the source. Human beings are just channels. I mean, at the end of the day, if somebody decides to leave because you are telling them the gospel truth or what they should learn, what they should know, and because they think that they give whatever it is they give and they want to put the church or God to ransom, if they leave some other people for God, they are just a channel. God is really the source at the end of the day. Right. So you should not compromise some doctrine, teachings, or admonition or correction when necessary just because you believe that some people, even those people that you are talking about, God sent them to you. God can also send some other people. Right, right. So, yeah, so that is a strong encouragement. And by extension, this also goes to, we see it in the society and even in families, which is a basic unit of the society, there are a lot of complainers in the society. And when we look, statistics show that most of the people who do the complaining actually do less contribution to the development and the advancement of the community. Very true. So this message is to all of our listeners out there. Please be committed in your community, in your family, no matter how small it may be, no matter how small the action you may think. Like you see litter around your neighborhood, just picking it up, putting it in the trash. It's a wrong way to add value to your community. You see children doing things that are wrong that will lead them to jail. You may not be their parent, but because you leave a block close to them, you are watching over that community. Because if those children go wayward and they become robbers, guess which community they will rob? They may come and oppress you in the house. So you should also be very vigilant and willing to step up and be a blessing to our community. You know, it's imperative, it's necessary. You know what somebody said one time? He said, what if all the givings and offerings and sites that we give to the church on earth is what they will use in building our house in heaven? I know some people will be homeless. Some people will surely be homeless. While some people have mansions, some people will have no place to stay. I hope that is not the case. Right, right. And some people make other arguments that they don't give time in church because they help the poor, they help the needy out there. And I'm going to say this. Helping the needy is good. Helping the poor is good. Helping the widows is good. If you can guarantee or tell me that for every income you receive, you are putting 10% aside to take care of the widows in your community, to take care of the homeless in your community, to take care of the poor in your community, to take care of the orphans in your community, then I'll commend you. You are doing great. But doing good most of the time or helping the poor, for most people it's not a consistent basis on when need arise. So that's not type. Type is the compulsory stuff. And as we saw last time when we were looking at the book of Leviticus, the purpose of type in the Old Testament was to take care of this category. The priests, the strangers, the orphans, the widows. So if you say you don't belong to a specific church, but you give time, and you don't want to give time to a church, totally fine. Look for an organization. Or if you can identify widows who are real widows, homeless, orphans who need help, and you do that continuously, then it's a welfare system within God's structure. But again, it is not a replacement for typing in church, except you don't go to church. If you go to church and you have a chair that you sit on, it's somebody else's type money that bought that chair. Maybe in your church you have a fan, you pay electricity, it's somebody else's type money that is contributing to that. They use a sound system where you hear the message being preached through the microphone going through the speaker. It's somebody else's type and offerings that are doing that work. So you want to be part of the team that sponsors, supports, not sponsors, supports and gives into the things of God. For these are things that have eternal value, and they also have eternal consequences. Another thing that we must look at is a lot of the people that make these complaints most of the time, it's just because we do not really calculate what... Or some people would argue that the reason why I don't give my dad is because I don't want to be giving my dad to somebody and they use my money to buy planes, and they use my money to buy jets and houses all over the world. And I would say to that, we have some pastors that are rich enough, they have a global audience, they have a worldwide outreach whereby they have to travel from place to place. But I can tell you that those, even those pastors are less than 10% of the number of pastors that we have. Right. So every church needs, like you mentioned, the need of kids. In fact, if properly done, every church, even taking care of the widows, taking care of the orphans, taking care of all of this, if accurately done, every church should even do that. Right. Which means that eventually, just by paying your tax, you would have as well done this other thing. Right. And making it available in the house. True. Yeah. It's all necessary. When they invite a guest minister to your church, a guest artist or whatever, all this, it is money. You don't think those widows came to preach because they are nice. Everything costs money. And in some cases, you know, you may not, most people or church members may not know this. When people come into town for the first time, some Christian, some non-Christian, one of the first places they reach out for refuge, maybe housing or even food, is the pastor. Unless it's a church. Or the church. And definitely go to the pastor. So, back in Cameroon, where I spent a whole lot of my young adult life, and... Shaka Shaka Nero. Shaka Shaka Nero. Shaka Shaka Nero. Shaka Shaka Nero. Shaka Shaka Nero. Shaka Shaka Nero. Shaka Shaka Nero. Shaka Shaka Nero. So, you notice that whenever you go to a pastor's house, you will find people there. Not his family members. Right. Not his family members. And when we look at the salary scheme that some denominations or some churches have for pastors, you notice that it's not even enough to keep them, just be themselves pastors. Stop listening to their wives and their children. Then now, every time you go to a pastor's house, you will see a stranger. You will see someone who is destitute, who just came out of town. He doesn't have a place to stay. Some of them are even church members who got laid off from work. You know, things like that. So, when you're giving, like Pastor Kairele said, if properly done, when you give your offerings, you give your tithe to church, you are also like, since you're taking care of the widows, you're taking care of the homeless, you're taking care of... There's this pastor, I think his name is Pastor Henshaw, Edith, Shia, I don't know. Every year, he does at least one major project where they sponsor and take care of widows in his town. Whichever town he sends to, to go and preach, whichever town he sends to, he does a major project where some people who support his ministry join and partner with him to take care of widows. They buy bags of rice, food, capital for business. I mean, widows, not people who have just lost their husband, but widows who are really widows, like me. Every blessed creator. And there are pastors like that all over the world who do that out of their personal money and sometimes out of what people give them to support them. So, please support your pastors in your local communities. Support the church. Support your church and support the work of God. Support your community. Support your community and we'll be coming back to you same time next week. Alright, at the corner. At the corner. We'll meet you at the corner. God bless you. Alright, shout out. Shout out.
