Somnus

Somnus is a modal‑ambiguous work shaped by the drifting, unstable states of rest. Named for the Roman god of sleep, the piece draws its atmosphere from the mythic image of Somnus’ cavern—where sunlight never reaches and the River Lethe murmurs its soft forgetfulness. Within this world, the music moves like shadows in a dream, its harmonies deepening and its melody unfolding in slow, hypnotic gestures that sway from side to side.
