Adam Gutierrez from Texas Tech University is conducting a podcast where he interviews students about issues in the dorms. Alyssa, a student from Abilene, Texas, talks about the problem with the showers in Coleman Hall, where the water is either scorching hot or freezing cold. The water pressure is also very low. Alyssa and other girls have submitted maintenance requests, but the issue has not been resolved. Nicholas Martinez, a student from Madrid, Spain, mentions that he hasn't faced any issues in the dorms. Alyssa advises future students to be cautious when choosing their dorms, as all dorms at Texas Tech may have issues. Hi guys, this is Adam Gutierrez and I am from Abilene, Texas, but I go to Texas Tech here in Lubbock, Texas. And today I am going to do a podcast about just some situations that have been happening here in the dorm rooms that I personally feel like we need to address to some future college students that want to come here. And I am going to be interviewing three people and here I have my first person I am going to interview. Hi, I am Alyssa. I am also from Abilene, Texas. I go to Tech and I live in Coleman Hall. Alright, well hey, welcome Alyssa. First question, what are some situations in the dorms that like you have experienced or experience with in the semester so far? Yeah, one really big issue that I have experienced in Coleman is the showers. They are like scorching hot to the point where I and all the other girls will walk out of the showers with burning red marks on us. And you can make it cold, but there is no in-between setting, like it is either really hot or really cold, so you can't take a comfortable shower. What about the water pressure? Is the water pressure fine? Like is that why the girls come out with red marks or is it just because of the heat? No, honestly our water pressure is not really there. It is like kind of just dripping out water, so it is honestly just from the heat. There is no, like the water pressure is not too high or anything, it is actually really low. Geez, I am so sorry to hear that. How were you able to fix those situations or if you weren't, like what did you have to do while you were in those kind of situations? Yeah, I submitted a fix-it so that maintenance can come fix the showers and so did a lot of other girls on my floor, but the shower situation hasn't been resolved yet, so we are kind of just taking comfortable showers every day. And this has been happening for how long now? Just since the beginning of the school year, so probably I would say around three or four months now. Wow. Last question, what advice can you give to some new students coming here to Texas Tech next semester or next year about picking their dorm rooms? I personally wouldn't recommend paying extra to live in a suite. I think that as someone who is paying for their own college, living in one of the more traditional dorms that are more affordable, it is still a good option, but I would just be cautious of what happens in like all the dorms, honestly. What happens as in like the hot and cold water and the water pressures? Yeah, like all the dorms at Texas Tech are going to have some issues. I would just think about that when you are making your selection of dorms. Absolutely, I can agree with that. All right, well, thank you for coming on here and answering the questions for me. Have a great day. Of course. Thank you for having me. And we are here with our second interview. Nick, would you like to introduce yourself? Hey, guys. My name is Nicholas Martinez. I'm from Madrid in Spain. I currently live in Murray. In Spain, awesome. What made you want to come here to Texas Tech? Really good school. You know, I hear a lot about it. I watch football all the time. You know, it's really, really nice, and I think it's one of the reasons why I wanted to come here. Awesome. All right. So, first question, what are some situations in the dorms that you've faced or that you have experienced so far this semester? I wouldn't think you'd have me again, but no, I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I haven't.
