The speaker explains that in a closed system, there is an air vent that allows vapor with volatile substances to escape to the condenser. The condenser cools the water from a tab and then returns it for irrigation. The water and oil in liquid form are sent to a receiving flask where they naturally separate. The lighter volatile oils collect on top of the water, while the heavier oils collect underneath. The water in the receiving flask is sent back to the panel for water extraction.
