The Prime Directive

The Prime Directive is a sound collage compiled from various sleep aids native to YouTube. Many YouTube channels are dedicated to uploading longform drones to help people with tinnitus, anxiety or insomnia. These recordings can vary from idling engine noises and shopping centre muzak to pop songs slowed down by 800%. Often looped for up to twelve hours, and sampled from films, tv shows and other pop culture sources, these found sounds are analogous to videos published by the ASMR community.
