In this episode of the Off Topics Podcast, the hosts discuss the concept of "situationships" in teenage love. They define it as a stage where two people act like a couple but without the official labels. They talk about the complications and toxicity of situationships, as well as the confusion and disagreements that can arise. The hosts also debate whether talking to other people while in a situationship is considered cheating. Overall, they agree that situationships can be confusing and that it's important to communicate and establish clear boundaries. Hey guys, welcome back to the Off Topics Podcast. This is episode 2 of Teenage Liz. And this is Emerson, your new guest. Good job, Em. Yeah, so we have a new guest today. Instead of just us four, we have Emerson with us. And we are going to continue talking about teenage love. This is part 2. Our first thing is situationship. Anybody want to pitch in on their own experiences? Whatever. What is the definition of situationship? The definition, in my opinion, is basically two people meet, they're talking, but it's not official. But that's a talking stage. You can go on a date, you can go wherever, you can literally pretend like you're a couple, but there's no labels. It's not you're my boyfriend, it's not you're my girlfriend. I think that's more specific than situationships. It's just situations. Situationships are complicated, in my opinion. It is complicated because you're basically acting like a couple, but none of you guys want to put a label on it. That's what I consider complicated. It's kind of toxic. It is toxic. But that's what I consider a situationship. You guys can have your own opinion. I guess. Of what you're thinking. I thought a situationship was when you're talking to someone, but then you're also talking to other girls at the same time. No! That is not a situationship. I mean, in situationships you can talk to other girls. That is a situationship. It's a relationship, that's a situation. Oh. My definition of a situationship is just like you're talking to someone, but you have a lot of problems. Yeah, I think it's more complicated than just like, oh, you guys are dating, but you haven't labeled it as dating. Yeah, but what problems? No, no, no, no, but there's a lot of unknowns in you guys' future. You guys don't know much about each other, and then you guys keep coming on like the same argument. I kind of agree with what Em said, how it's like you're not really seeing other people, but talking to other people. It's a situationship because it's like complicating. Yeah, I agree with that. Like, I don't even know. Two people see the relationship differently. I don't think it's that big of a deal. I think it's like situationships, you're just acting like you're in a relationship, but there's no labels on it, and you don't see other people ever. It's like an open relationship. But there's literally no labels. It's not like you guys are official. That's why it's called a situationship, or else you'd just be in a relationship. What do you guys do? You have a talking stage, too. Exactly, but there's so many words now for relationships with another person. Like, there's talking stages, situationships, there's a bunch of other things. It's one, and it's complicated. But that's the thing, it is complicating. To be in a relationship, you have to be complicated yourself. Not actually yourself, you're not a complicated person. But you're both in complicated situations where you can't let yourself be in a relationship with the other person, but you want to, kind of thing. So it's complicating. So it's a situationship. It's all a little bit complicated. I feel like, you know situationships when you see one. What does that mean? Like, if your friend is going through her little struggles, you're definitely going to call it a situationship. Her little struggles with a man? Yeah. No, I don't consider that a situationship because couples have tons of arguments and stuff like that. But you wouldn't call that a situationship. No. That's why I'm saying I wouldn't call that a situationship. Personally, in your experience. I'm bringing up an example. That, what happened to you, I consider that a situationship. But then what's the difference from that and a talking stage? Because I also consider that a talking stage. What I think that would vary is when you both have different views on what's a relationship. One person thinks like, oh this is going somewhere, and the other person thinks, oh we're just talking now so I can talk to other girls at the same time. So you're both not on the same page of what's happening in a relationship. So it's complicating. Yeah. If you compare Kassia and Madison, Kassia was in a situationship slash talking stage. Madison was in an official relationship because they were labeled on it. However, they had similar problems. So there were problems in both. No. She has problems. No. The situation has problems. I may have brought up an enemy on the side of an enemy. Well, I don't even know. We kind of just spoke about the definition of it. What are your thoughts on situationships? Would you ever want to be in a situationship? What if it just happened? Exactly. I personally, I guess I'm tired of it. I would just give up. I'd either want to put labels on it, and then face people with a number. I'd like to see labels right away so I know what's going on. But then what happens if you guys are in that point of view where you're the confused one, and you don't know if you want that to be... Then I'd get rejected, but I'd rather get rejected than let off. No, I'm not saying you're already rejected. I'm not saying you're already rejected. I'm saying, exactly, you're confused yourself. Then I wouldn't say I'm confused. I wouldn't go talk to other people that say that. Well, no, I'm not saying go talk to other people. I think talking to other people, like the open relationship part of a situationship is dumb. No, it is. Because if you're talking to other people, then you're not... That's not a...ationship. A relationship? Yeah, but... Because a situationship, whatever. Asionship. I got it, I got it. I don't get it. Because... Oh. It's not a situationship, it's just a relationship. No, it's not a relationship. It's an asionship. Because there's different... Relationships, situationships. It's just like a mutual... Oh, it's not a... It's not an anything. It's a... It's not an anything. Okay. Because if you're willing to... If you're willing to talk to other people while trying to start something, I don't... No. Just a quick... You're a cheater. You're a cheater at that point. This is not... Yeah, but... It's not considered cheating if you're in a situationship and you talk to other people. There's no labels on it. Guys, we love you. This is basically my next topic. I'll go ahead. What do you guys consider cheating? So let's talk about this. Do you guys consider this cheating? Okay, let's go round. Yeah. Five person. Emerson, we're going to start with you. What do you consider cheating? What do you consider cheating? Okay, wait. No, no, no. If you are not labeled yet, then there's no cheating because you're not like officially together. So if you want to talk to other people when you're not labeled yet, then talk to other people because then that stops leaving the other person on like... Yeah, but... There's nothing that's happening from that. I agree with what you're saying, but it also kind of shows who you are as a person. Like I don't... I don't... I wouldn't consider it cheating because it's technically not because you're not in a relationship, but it would just show what kind of person you are. Like if you're able to do that while trying to like start something, I don't... I would be like... I don't know. I guess. Like red flag. Like no. Yeah. But Christian, I feel like if you're like cheating, cheating quotation marks on the cheating and the talking stage, and like we're trying to go into like the next stage of our whatever you want to call it, and you're cheating, obviously the talking stage is the preview. It's the trailer guys. It's the trailer. And that's okay. Yeah. Like... Yeah. I'm not going to say that because I'm not dating him. Yeah. I wouldn't be able to say that. Like I wouldn't be able to like label it as that. Yeah. It's just like I now know who you are and I'd probably steer away. Nobody thinks that you can get cheated on in a talking stage, right? I think... You can get cheated on, but I wouldn't call it cheating. Yeah. Yeah. Like it's just like... Like if you're not... I'm just a different person. Obviously you're going to break it off when you're in a talking stage. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
