Welcome to the HCMS Podcast with your host, Collin Scrooge from West End Road. On today's episode, we're going to be talking about the Super Bowl. What do you think about that national anthem? I mean, I thought it was awesome. I mean, I don't think you could ask for anything better. Chris Stapleton, already a great songwriter, so going into this, people already had an idea that it was going to be pretty good. I mean, I wasn't expecting it to be that good. I wasn't expecting it to be that good either. I mean, I knew it was going to be good, but I mean, that was amazing. That was just perfect. I mean, it really was. At a loss for words, there's not much you can say about it other than it was perfect. It was emotional, and I mean, everything about it was just perfect. I mean, Chris Stapleton definitely, they need an MVP for Best National Anthem now because he blew that out of the water. He really did blow it out. I mean, I don't know what he did to make it sound so good, but it sounded perfect. Just good songwriter, great background coming from that fella, I think. I ain't never met him before, but just by far, Best National Anthem out there. I feel like most people can agree, but if they ain't agreeing with it, they just hated it. I don't see how you could hate that national anthem. I don't either, honestly. I mean, that was one of the best national anthems ever. I mean, let's just give Chris Stapleton a round of applause for that. That was just perfect. What do you think about the grass and the turf? I seen a thing somebody sent it to me. It was $800,000 and it took them two years to prep it. I mean, come on. You're going to have to have better performance out of grass that was that expensive and that took that long to prep. It really does need to be a whole lot better. I mean, that was just pitiful. I mean, I think it has something to do with the halftime show and them packing it down so bad and getting moisture all over it and stuff. I mean, they were slipping and sliding out there. Them football players was. I don't know. I mean, two years, $800,000, it should be a whole lot better than that. And you're playing at a professional level, so you're going to have to get the best performance out of your grass that you can get. And that definitely was not it. It wasn't it at all. That was awful. I mean, let's talk about the one sack of the game. The one sack of the game was from Saunders on the Chiefs. What did you think about that? Oh, man. That was a pretty good play. It really was. And you know, they've never had a kickback touchdown, a return touchdown from a kickoff. And they were 10 to 15 yards from having one this game. I mean, that's just incredible in itself. It really is. I mean, in the 57 years to never have one, that was just incredible. It really is. And I mean, that was a good close game the whole time. It ended up being 38 to 35 in the last couple minutes of the game. And I mean, it was just all the time an awesome game. I mean, by far, a pretty good game. The statistics right here, the Eagles had no sacks that game. Kind of surprising, but kind of at the same time being the fact that they were playing the Chiefs. I mean, that game was a decent game, I'd say. Yeah, Mahomes had 182 yards with three touchdowns. And he got MVP. He got three touchdowns. Two of them was on a hurt foot. Or an ankle, actually. Or ankle. And I mean, they were passing, but I mean, they were passing touchdowns. But I mean, that's still pretty good. And I mean, he only had 182 yards. But overall, I think he just played the best out there. I mean, I can see where he got the MVP. I mean, he's a good Christian kid. Anybody deserves it, he does. He's a good person. Great background coming from him. And at the end of the day, you know, the rest of them were good. I see where Hurts had 304 yards with one touchdown. But at the end of the day, Patrick was just a little bit better with three touchdowns. I mean, Patrick Mahomes by far deserved that MVP. I think he really did deserve it. On the receiving side, Kelsey had 81 yards and one touchdown. I mean, he played a pretty good game. I mean, I couldn't, I can't lie. He did play real good. I mean, receiving, on the receiving side, yes, he did do really good. But Smith had 100 yards but didn't have a touchdown. I agree. I mean, if they had, for each one, had an MVP, I think Kelsey would have got the MVP for receiving. I mean, I think just looking at these statistics, the Chiefs had better statistics. Because the only one was rushing, had 76 rushing yards for the Chiefs. And for the Eagles, they had 70 rushing yards with 30 touchdowns made by Hurts. But the Chiefs did have one sack, so that makes up the little bit for those rushing yards. Yeah, and total yards, I mean, the 340 for the Chiefs and 417 for the Eagles I mean, with the rushing yards, the Chiefs had more rushing yards. I mean, that helped them out. The Chiefs had 158 and the Eagles only had 115. So, I mean, the Eagles may have had better total yards, but the Chiefs had more rushing yards and had passes for firsts, had more passes for first downs. The rushing average for the Chiefs was 6.1 and for the Eagles was 3.6. So, I mean, the statistics, I mean, it's about 50-50. It could have went either way. I mean, the Eagles did have more first downs, though. The Eagles also fumbled the ball and that caused a touchdown. Yeah. And penalties, the Eagles had 6 and the Chiefs only had 3. I feel like penalties led a lot. The Eagles might have had a better chance if they didn't have so many penalty calls on them. And the Chiefs, I mean, the Eagles got a penalty called on them in the last minute or two or three minutes and it caused them the whole game. I believe so. I mean, that's probably one of the dumbest calls I've ever seen. It really was a bad call. I mean, I was going for the Chiefs, but I mean, it was a pretty bad call. And, you know, the time that you have the ball makes a difference, too. But even though the Eagles had the ball for 35 minutes and 47 seconds and the Chiefs only had it for 24 minutes and 13 seconds, I mean, I guess the Eagles just, they just didn't play as hard as they should have played to win the game. That's what I'm saying. I mean, they had the ball longer, but they just wouldn't. I mean, I get that it's probably trying their hardest and some of it just played out the way it did because of incidents and stuff like that, you know. But, let's see. We'll see. I'm trying to see here. Something we haven't gone over. Defensive interceptions. Nobody had an interception on the defensive side. Defensive sacks. The Chiefs did have two. I mean, the Eagles did have two defensive sacks. And the Chiefs had none. Yeah, I mean, the Eagles, I mean, they both played good. They both played really good. Excellent ball games. I mean, overall, the Super Bowl 57 was pretty good. It really was. I mean, I feel like, I mean, the Chiefs head coach, I mean, he did really good on the last two or three minutes thinking it out. I mean, if he would have just went for a touchdown, the Eagles could have easily came back and got another touchdown. And, I mean, they could have tied the game again and had to go into overtime. But, you know, the head coach, like, ran the clock down and he didn't want, he called a timeout. He used his timeouts good and he ran the clock down. He did just phenomenal on that. I mean. And the Eagles, they did have more rushes for first. It was 12 rushes for first and the Chiefs only had seven. So, I mean, it was a good game. And at the end of the day, I believe a lot of those penalties had to play with the Eagles not winning. I agree. And, which, I mean, the Eagles were 14-3 and the Chiefs were 14-3 going into it. And, you know, I just feel like it was an all-time good game. I mean, the first quarter, they both scored a touchdown and got seven. They tied at the end of the first. Second quarter, the Chiefs only stayed at seven. And the Eagles, the Chiefs scored again on the second quarter and the Eagles got 17 on that. But, on the third quarter, the Chiefs scored and the Eagles only got three. And at the end, at fourth quarter, the Chiefs fought and fought and scored 17 and the Eagles only scored eight. And that led to 38 and 35. I mean, let's talk about some of them calls. Some of them calls were complete. Some of them calls were pretty bad. And if you're going to be a ref at a professional level, you need to be a professional level ref. I agree. And these, I mean, the refs, I mean, you can't argue with the refs or you'll get even more penalties. I mean, the refs are going to call what they think they should call. I mean, a lot of times they're not right and I agree. But they have the ability to look back over it and, like, see if it was actually what they called and change it. I agree. But, I mean, certain stuff they can do and certain stuff they can't do. And I don't know if... They need to take more advantage of being able to look back over it. I agree. And see if they had made the right call. I really do agree. I think they should do a whole lot better on that. And they shouldn't be making bad calls like that. But, you know, at the end of the day, it was a good game. And I think that this is where we should leave it off at. Yeah. I mean, pretty good Super Bowl. 57th Super Bowl, so... Pretty good.
